The Italian Supreme Court (the Corte di Cassazione) issued two interesting decisions on remote monitoring of employees' working activity which as already reported is subject to considerable restrictions under Italian employment and privacy law.The Court in the first case held that it was illegal the usage of a software monitoring the calls of a call centre assistant suspected to have performed a very large number of calls lasting less than 15 seconds (i.e. a duration not sufficient to allow customers to outline their questions and give a response) and to have performed a substantial number of personal calls. The Italian gaming authority has published the data of the Italian online gaming market relation to year 2012 unveiling some very interesting information. The Criminal Court of Milan ordered to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block the access from Italy to websites broadcasting football matches of RTI TV programs in breach of copyright laws.Italian copyright law provides criminal sanctions for the illegal broadcasting through channels of communication of copyright protected works. The Italian Supreme Court had held in the past that while football matches per se are not copyright protected works, the video recording of such events is copyright protected. As previously mentioned, new Italian new online bingo regulations had been notified and approved by the European Commission even if they have not yet come into force. However, a further step forward has been achieved now. AAMS published the draft version of the protocol of communication for the new bingo subject to a consultation. There will be a consultation period lasting up to the 22nd of February 2013 when operators can file questions, requests of clarifications and comments and it is likely that operators will be able to launch the new bingo before the summer 2013.   This regulatory change will be crucial for the future of the Italian online bingo market.
