As a reaction to the very recent betting scandal relating to footbal fixed matches, important new initiatives have been adopted by the Italian Gambling Authority and the Italian Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Italian Gambling Authority (AAMS) has not only declared that has been cooperating and will more and more cooperate with licensees and the competent authorities in order to identify illegal conducts connected to events subject of bets, but that wil also execute by the end of the month of June a bilateral agreement with the French Gambling Authority aimed at fostering the exchange of information between the two authorities in order to better detect illegal conducts. This might represent the first step towards the sharing of gaming liquidity between the two countries (especially for poker and bingo games), but for the time being will be a very useful tool to limit the risk of unlawful practices.
Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced today the creation of a task force whose members will be the primary representatives of the different Italian police entities to investigate and prevent fixed matches.
All the above should be able to increase the trust in the Italian gaming license system that with the launch of the new regime has introduced better measures to protect players and prevent abuses.
