For the third consecutive year, the Italian Intellectual Property and Technology department of law firm DLA Piper has published predictions for the coming year, 2021, in the main sectors in which it operates.
Given the whirlwind of events over the past year, DLA Piper Italian Intellectual Property and Technology predictions for 2021 were enriched with a survey involving 120 clients and contacts from 8 different sectors, from Finance & Insurance to Technology, from Media Sports & Entertainment to Life Sciences & Wellness, also covering Fashion & Retail, Food & Beverages, and Gaming & Gambling, with the addition of the area of IP Litigation which is a cross-sector area.
Survey participants were asked questions about how the Covid-19 outbreak impacted their business and what major risks they foresee in the next 12 months, which areas they expect to grow the most, and which will be most profoundly affected by digital transformation.
In the predictions, the survey results were analyzed on an industry-by-industry basis, comparing them to aggregate data and identifying the critical legal issues related to digitization, rights protection and enhancement, and regulation under the purview of DLA Piper Italian Intellectual Property & Technology department that – in our view – will be “on top of the list” for companies operating in the various areas in the coming year.
The predictions for 2021 will be discussed on January 27 as part of a webinar (in Italian) with the following high-level panelists.
